Danish South Pole Expedition 2000

Unfortunately, Kalle had to study in Switzerland, so Kristian Joos and I decided shortly after the return from Greenland that we would be the first Danes skiing to the South Pole.

We were inspired by the old polar explorers Roald Amundsen, Ernest Shackleton and Robert Scott, and our dream was to walk from the coast of the Arctic Continent without extra supplies to the geographic South Pole.

It became another fantastic adventure of 56 days in the world’s most deserted, cold and inhospitable area. The journey offered gigantic physical and mental challenges and the friendship between us was sometimes sorely tried.
