Danish X Greenland Expedition 1999

My first big expedition......

Common friends introduced me to two top tuned winter outdoors enthusiasts: Kalle Kronholm and Kristian Joos.

Inspired by Fritjof Nansen's book ”Skiing across Greenland” we decided to cross Greenland, though not from the east to the west as Nansen, but opposite. Apart from that we would do it in the same way as Nansen, without extra supplies and using ski sails.

It was a fantastic journey of 42 days, and it had all that a crossing Greenland must involve: very bad weather, low temperatures, magnificent nature, big and small challenges, drama and good fellowship.

After the great success with the crossing of Greenland, I had ”tasted blood” for more adventure.
